Day 10/66: Tuesday, March 10, 2020: Savusavu, Fiji

Savusavu is a town in the Fijian Province of Cakaudrove. The town is located on the south coast of Vanua Levu Island and had a population of 3,372 in the 2007 census. Savusavu is known as "the hidden paradise of Fiji. I went ashore around 1:00 pm and stayed a couple of hours. I don't know about being a hidden paradise, but it definitely is a place to go if you like flies and high humidity.

I took the tender to shore. It was raining lightly and extremely humid. The small village reminded me of Nicaragua after the earthquake.

After walking the length of the town and back, I strolled down the coast line about a half mile to the Savusavu Jetty.

I then walked back to the dock and waited for the next tender. The band was there to entertain me.

I went to the gym in the evening and afterwards, I did my nine laps on Deck 9. After about four laps, I noticed a commotion as I rounded the bend above the bar on Deck 8. I wasn't sure what it was. On the next lap, the same commotion greeted me in the same place. I then noticed at there was a sea bird underneath the stairway. Apparently it had flown into the ship and was hurt. I went ahead and finished my laps, during which time the bird monitored me as I went by. I then found and notified a crew member who just shrugged and walked away, which pissed me off. When I got back to the room, I called Reception and notified them. They said they would handle it.
